July 12 2021 My Favorite Comic

 My favorite comic that I recently discovered is called "Kaze to Ki no Uta" or in english "The poem of the the trees and wind". 

This comic was one of the mangas that appeared in a the Year 24 group. "The Year 24 Group is a grouping of female manga artists who heavily influenced shōjo manga beginning in the 1970s." 

Back in the day most of mangas used expressionism which is the usage of Lines and almost symbols influenced from fine art as the backdrop of the comic. What I really love about it is that there were much more freedom to combine poetry and loose panels to create not just a comic but a whole illustration.

The content of the manga is quite heavy but I really love how realistic it is in accordance to the time the manga take place which is set in 1800s Paris. The comic basically tells a story of two boys that lived in a a very prestigious dorm . This was during the era where literature/music/poetry was seen critical in school so most of their classes are of that nature. I personally really like themes such as these so reading the comic also gives me insight to French education at that time.
